'Dirk Trent is a chain-smoking, hard drinking, low rent private investigator in a bad suit from the wrong side of town. He is thrown headlong into a murder investigation after he accidentally videotapes what appears to be a violent homicide. This is no ordinary murder case. Someone or something is making people's heads explode all over town. Dirk seeks solace in Mezcal - tequila with the worm. To eat the worm is to discover the key that unlocks your mind. For Dirk, the worm unlocks something more terrible. Nothing worse than this roly poly man's own nightmare: a creature with a heart and soul as black as Amazonian mud - and it sucks!'
