Wild Places / City Spaces: Environmental Writing (CRWR 2011)
Semester 2 / 2013

Description

This course will focus on creative writing in all genres, but particularly non-fiction and poetry, that engages with all forms of environments, from wildernesses to the urban. It will focus specifically on writing that pays special and close attention to the intersection of text and place, to environmental concerns, and to ecopoetic theory and practice. In this context, students will undertake a series of exercises designed to develop their own writing and provide feedback to other students. They will examine some key works of environmental literature and ecopoetic literary theory. Students will undertake field research as part of the course to develop a final sustained piece of writing about environment or place.
