AbstractHistoryArchive Description

'Both florrie Lindsay and Dorothy Murray were at Bulman when I first worked there, and Dorothy and I formed the single women's camp in 1975. Dorothy is still there. Florrie was already quite an old lady when I recorded this account of her life in 1986. Unfortunately she did not live to have the written version read to her. Dorothy's story was recorded in 1989'. At the request of the authors they were translated in standard English. Bulman is on the border of Arnhem Land and Mainoru cattle station, which was the home and workplace of many Rembarrnga people until an American company acquired the lease in 1968. The subsequent events are told in these stories. The Gulin Gulin community at Bulman has connections with Ngukurr, Barunga and Maningrida'. (Source: Publisher's note)
