Of pioneering descent on both sides of the family, Nita was the 6th child of May (Douglas) and William Frederick Thompson. She was educated at St James Church of England School, then worked for the Cheney Motor Co Ltd, importer of Dodge cars, and their successor, Waymouth Motor Co. In 1924 she began to write short stories and poetry. She became a prolific writer. As well as her two published historical novels, she wrote five novels with an Australian setting, which never reached publication, and numerous Australian short stories, several short stories for children and some nature stories. Her stories were published regularly in The Chronicle during the years of WW II. She lived in Fisher St, Fullarton and died at the age of 82.
