Commissioned for the bicentennial of Captain James Cook's landing on Australia's east coast.

Production Details

  • Commissioned by the Australian Broadcasting Commission for the 1970 Promenade Season, Sydney.

    The 1970 Sydney production (first performance, 14 February 1970) featured singer Jeannie Lewis, prog rock band Tully, and the Sydney Symphony Orchestra.

    The 1972 Adelaide production featured singer Jeannie Lewis, rock band Fraternity (then fronted by Bon Scott), and the Melbourne Symphony Orchestra.
