(p. 2)A concert at the Learmonth Shire Hall by the Ballarat Harmonic Society was excellent. Twenty-five to thirty performers were conducted by the society's conductor, Mr A. T. Turner, and presented a number of pieces, as did the Ballarat Glee and Madrigal Union. The audience was appreciative, but smaller than hoped for owing to competing events.

(p. 2)Mr Bachelder's entertainment continues to attract good attendances, despite the competing attractions at the Theatre Royal. The writer considers the highlight of the excellent diorama to be the collection of life-like marionettes performing President Lincoln's funeral march. Mr Bachelder will give a performance tomorrow afternoon and children will be admitted for sixpence.

— Review of Much Ado About Nothing 1598 single work drama ;(p. 2)A lengthy review of Mr Montgomery's performance in the role of Benedick in Much Ado About Nothing. The reviewer considers Mr Montgomery to be one who has a deep knowledge of Shakespeare and is able to bring to light 'hidden beauties contained in the writings of the poet'. Montgomery's representation differs from conventional portrayals in a way which the reviewer considers both scholarly and artistic.
