First line of verse:"Amongst the thunder-splintered caves,"
This version omits the first stanza of the poem published in the Empire and the Illawarra Mercury in February 1861. The following phrases are altered: 'rugged shore' becomes 'windy shore'; 'moonlight gleams' becomes 'moonlight dreams'; 'tuneful strings' becomes 'wailing strings'; 'fairy dreams' becomes 'fading dreams'. There are small changes to punctuation and word contractions.
Note: Author note: 'The version now given, has been specially corrected for the "Illawarra Mercury." [H. K.]'
