A lengthy report on an oration titled 'Literary Portraiture', which was given by Frank Fowler, at the Mechanics' School of Arts, Sydney, on Monday evening, 4 May, 1857. The oration became the subject of a heated newspaper exchange between Fowler, William Forster, ('Prometheus'), and the Sydney Morning Herald columnist, Richard Rowe, ('Peter 'Possum').
