Moore wrote on 26 January 1832 'In looking over the Derry newspapers this morning I for the first time observed in that of 31 July 1830 my lines of 'Think of Me' ... I fear they are possessed of no merit ... However it shews that you thought them worthy ... The line in the last verse (the 2nd) never pleased me. The word 'glee' seemed to be inappropriate. I think I altered them before inserting them in my 'book' but as I have now lost this, I am not quite certain.' (See The Millendon Memoirs (2006): 90)
