(p. 141-147.)Danny lives with his wife Lisa and daughter Ally in the hills outside Melbourne. They are surrounded by bush and have to negotiate a narrow bush track to reach a sealed road. When Danny goes out to the shops one Saturday, he cannot get back home as fire crews are blocking the road. Bushfires are raging in the district. Danny breaks through and finds his house burnt to the ground and his wife and daughter missing.
