'The Song of the Drover' is the only complete poem that remains of the many known to have been written by Patsy Durack. The others he destroyed because they were a continual source of amusement to the members of his family who thought them worthless. This poem was discovered by his granddaughter, Mary Durack, when researching the Durack family's history for her novel, Kings In Grass Castles, qq.v.
