Editor's note: Augustus, Count of Ehrensvard, of Liatrop, Helinsborg, Sweden, a grandson of the late Colonel Davey, one of the earliest of the Tasmanian Governors, writes to Mr. C.E. Davies:- "While on my visit to the colonies, I received from a cousin of mine an old scrap book which had belonged to Dr. James Scott, Surgeon, Royal Navy, and to his wife, nee Lucy M. Davey, daughter of the late Lieutenant-Governor Davey, who were my grandparents. This book contained a number of curiosities, such as portraits of Governor Macquarie and his wife, with signatures, etc., and also this poem, which has never been published in the colony, and which is at your disposal."
