Notes

  • Editor's note: Sam is a young man, the only son of Major Buckley, a squatter (pastoralist) in South-eastern Australia. Bushrangers have planned to attack a neighbouring station, the home of Alice Brentwood, to whom Sam is engaged to be married. On hearing of their purpose, Sam sets out to give warning and protect Alice.
