Revusical.

A mini musical comedy in two scenes, Broadway Nights saw Jim Gerald appear as a night clerk in a New York hotel.

Production Details

  • 1934: Tivoli Theatre, Melbourne, 7-13 July.

    • Director Jim Gerald; Producer Tivoli Circuit Australia; Troupe Jim Gerald's Musical Revue Company.
    • Cast incl. Jim Gerald, Charles L. Sherman, Lou Cottam, Russell Callow, Catherine Neil, Edna Ralston, Lily Coburn, Thelma Duff, Tom Dale, Owen Laurence, Lance Vane, Frieda Bohning, Vilma Kaye, Bobbie Clifton, Will Perryman, Max Reddy, and the Six Twinklers.
    • The revusical followed a first-part entertainment, Ye Old Nigger Minstrels, which comprised old-time plantation songs and the traditional minstrel semi-circle, complete with the master of ceremonies, Mr Interlocutor, and a double comedy endmen team, Mr Tambo (Jim Gerald and Max Reddy) and Mr Bones (Charles L. Sherman and Owen Laurence).
    • NB: Frieda Bohning's surname is sometimes given as 'Bonning.' It is unclear which is the correct name.
