  • Editor's note: A statue in Kalgoorlie erected to Paddy Hannan the discoverer of the famous Golden Mile is a memorial fountain and water for the thirsty gushes from the bronze water bag held by the sculptured figure of the old prospector. In 1950 Tex Morton visited Kalgoorlie and was inspired by this statue to write the following fantasy.
