AbstractHistoryArchive Description

This 'influential masterpiece of farmer and poet Eric Rolls (1923-2007), was born of concern for settler Australian land management practices. Its topic is introduced species; its strength lies both in its formidable research and in the quality of the writing, which, while recounting distressing events and consequences, also celebrates the land and its creatures in a beautiful, unadorned style' (Ruth Blair, World Literature Today, 83.1 (2009): 54).
