'The author has worked in the boy scout movement to good purpose, and all young people will be deeply interested in the exciting adventtures of the two bush boys and the black boy [sic] who formed the Kangaroo on Lone Patrol is the far North-west of Queensland. Floods, buckjumpers, bushrangers, gold diggers, and myalls all figure prominently in the story, and the principal hero—for there are three—is a remarkably fine specimen of a smart young bushman.'
