AbstractHistoryArchive Description

The article examines the connections between post-colonial studies and Australian literary studies, their founding concepts and historical development, and the perceived lack of correspondence between the two disciplines. It concludes that 'both Australian literary studies and post-colonial studies will face increasing pressure to come to terms with the powerful new theories of globalisation and transnationalism, which challenge equally many of their respective founding assumptions' (119).
