AbstractHistoryArchive Description

An annotated bibliography of over 130 English-language titles for young people which deal with different aspects of violence. Discusses many Australian works, among them by Gary Crew, Eleanor Spence, John Marsden, Nadia Wheatley, Victor Kelleher, Gillian Rubinstein et al. Annotations explore the depiction of violence in each work, highlighting how they extend readers' understandings of violence or raise notions of responsibility towards it. Includes an Overview and detailed introductory essay. Aimed at teachers, high school students, and professionals working with children's literature.
