AbstractHistoryArchive Description
Vondra makes an extended visit to Taiwan, meeting up with an old colleague from Melbourne, Robert Wei, and a very accommodating public relations officer from the Government Information Office, Michael Chang. Chang encourages Vondra to 'Look around you, snoop about. This is not communist China.' Wei shows Vondra around and takes him to a dance hall, dinner, markets, and other places of interest, introducing him to local customs along the way. He also provides historical and geographical information about Taiwan. Vondra also visits Kinmen/Quemoy Island, and observes the military operations there.
