The film's music soundtrack also features songs from the rock band Divinyls. Four tracks ('Boys in Town,' 'Only Lonely,' 'Elsie,' and 'Only You') are also included on the Divinyls' first studio album, Desperate (1983). The Monkey Grip soundtrack also features two other songs by the band: 'Gonna Get You' and 'Girlfriends.'

1. Released in Australia on 17 June 1982. The film also screened at the 1982 Toronto Film Festival.
2. Released on videocassette format by Roadshow Home Video (n. yr.). Re-released on DVD format in 2004 by Umbrella Entertainment. Also released by Umbrella Entertainment with Dimboola (2009) and in Australian Cinema Collection: Volume 1 (2009) and Australian Cinema Collection: Volume 2 (2009).
