Notes

    • 'The writer is at fault here [re Barracks Flat]. The Barracks referred to, were those of the mounted police who did escort service in the days of Kiandra's prosperity as a gold field.' (Editor's note, Queanbeyan Age)
    • The Federal Capital authorities adopted the nomenclature (The Molonglo) given by the old-time surveyors when the river was so named from its source in the Jingeras to its confluence with the Murrumbidgee, not withstanding that subsequently when the Queanbeyan river, (at first a minor stream) had become greater in volume and channel, the united waters were given the name of the latter river right through to its junction with the Murrumbidgee, and locally the Molonglo was recognised only as an affluent of the Queanbeyan, immediately below which town it junctions with the now more important stream.' (Editor's note, Queanbeyan Age)
