Eric Davis in his introduction to the UQP edition describes the book as a 'collection of sketches written for various journals and publication of the early twenties - the Bulletin, the Woman's Mirror, the Brisbane Courier, etc'.
-
The work contains 'Part One' and 'Part Two'. Ten of the eleven stories which comprise the chapters appearing in 'Part Two' were published in the Brisbane Courier between 14 March and 19 September 1925. (With title: 'Me an' th' Son Again')
-
Richard Fotheringham notes that a play written in 1917 and 'marginally re-written in 1928 with the new title The 'Rudd Family' 'became a major commercial success when staged throughout eastern Australia by William Anderson ...The play's title was intended to suggest strongly that the play was a sequel to 'On Our Selection', although the family in fact are not the Rudds but the Dicksons'.
