Dedication: This book is dedicated to two women. The first my late wife Joan who never saw any of these poems before she passed away on the sixteenth day of October 1987, but her death inspired many of them out of sheer grief. The second is Isla Doyle. Isla picked me up out of the pit of gloom I had fallen into and restored my health and spirits. She encouraged me to develop the new found [sic] talent for poetry and prompted me to write six other books from my experiences. My grateful thanks to her for saving my life and making it possible with her enormous patience for me to concentrate on these expressions of life from the past and present. Also as [sic] acting as a sounding board for the merit of my work.
