Steve Fisher was an American novelist and screenwriter who became one of the key figures in the development of Hollywood film noir. He was one of the most influential screenwriters through the 1940s and he wrote until the 1970s. His novel The Sheltering Night was banned in Australia in 1954.Fisher is included in AustLit because his work was banned or restricted in Australia by the Federal censor.
