''The Peppercorn Tree' is a story of mateship, love, regret and reconciliation.

'In Tobruk during World War II during an early morning air raid, Jonah Cloake made a split-second decision. The fallout took root and grew to overshadow his life and future relationships, especially with his wife and only son.

'Burying his guilt under a veneer of jibes and humour, Jonah succeeded in avoiding his past for decades. Now, as he nears the end of life, the aging Jonah reluctantly agrees to record his memoirs with a biographer and in the process is forced to confront his demons.

'By turns humorous and deeply moving, 'The Peppercorn Tree' is a story of the healing power of reconciliation with oneself and others. (Source: Australian Script Centre online)
