BiographyHistory

Cadell was an internationally-experienced river navigator and entrepreneur who successfully took a steamer from the Murray River mouth to Swan Hill in 1853. Cadell remained active in the navigation of the Murray and its tributaries during the 1850s and 1860s and undertook further government-sponsored exploration and navigation in the Nothern Territory and New South Wales.

In 1879 Cadell disappeared in the Dutch East Indies.
