Written to show another side to colonial literature and life besides ruffians, bushrangers and swindlers, the record of the author's two years in Victoria. She records her move with her husband to a small isolated up-country township, the poverty and illness suffered there, and the extreme kindness and support of their fellow townspeople. (PB)
