BiographyHistory

Chinese-Australian tea merchant Quong Tart worked as a lawyer's clerk in Wollongong in his youth. He later established himself in Sydney and provided the room for the first 'womanhood suffrage meeting' at his 'old rooms'. He was present at a gathering to farewell Miss Doyle in his Elite Hall rooms (also attended by Louisa Lawson and Annie Golding) in the early months of 1903. He also catered the first social for the Woman's Political League on 4 July 1903.
