BiographyHistory

Virginia Spate was Power Professor of Fine Arts, Department of Art History and Theory, University of Sydney, and Director of the Power Institute at the University of Sydney (1978-2004). Spate was awarded a Chevalier des Arts et des Lettres in 2004, and was recognised with a Centenary Medal from the Australian Academy of the Humanities in 2001.
