'David found the stallion he wanted for his own, but the horse had been so mistreated that he was considered wild and David's father was afraid he would be hurt. David knows the stallion, whom he names Roland, won't hurt him and proves it. Riding the horse alone, Roland reared in fright and David was thrown and lost consciousness, but not before he glimpsed the most enormous man he had ever seen. He was a giant living in the bush country of Australia, with a kangaroo for a pet. David had heard legends about giants, and his father had told him how cruel people were to outsized or strange people. David made friends with Arnold, a giant of a man, who told him his name and ate some of his chocolate cake. David promised to come back without letting anyone know where Arnold lived. This simple giant was afraid of people because they hounded him. Because he stole some flour one night, the townspeople were determined to capture him. David was determined to fight injustice against his . friend, which resulted in a bloody battle pitting David, Roland, the giant, and his Kangaroo against men armed with guns. An unusually exciting story of a boy, a giant and a horse.' (Source: Online)
