BiographyHistory

Sue Wyatt had strong ties with her people, the Wongai of the Kalgoorlie region in Western Australia. From the age of ten she sketched and painted mainly family portraits and continued her visual documentary of Aboriginal life through portraits of Aboriginal people from Kalgoorlie and surrounding desert areas.

Sue Wyatt completed two years of a three year graphic design course at James Street College of TAFE in Perth, Western Australia. In 1971 she exhibited her work and sold her paintings. Wyatt received a twelve month Fellowship from the Aboriginal Arts Board of the Australia Council. She lived with her children between Perth and Kalgoorlie in Western Australia.
