Zygmunt Goworek was born in Radom, Poland in 1927 and, after experiences as a soldier in the Polish army during WWII and as a political prisoner in Communist Poland in 1948-1955 and 1957-1968 he received political asylum in Greece in 1986. In the same year he emigrated to Australia. Goworek has written several books, including a young adult adventure narrative Dramat w australijskim buszu (A Drama in the Australian Bush) (Warsaw, 1994), a long extract from which appears in the Polish Australian anthology Green Winter (1997).
