BiographyHistory

Thanos Nikolaidis left Smyrna in 1922, his parents settling in Athens where he completed primary school and was, for a few years, a student at Leontios, the French lyceum in Athens. The family moved to Cairo where he gained a Bachelor of Arts degree from the American University. In Australia he worked as a journalist, both for English and Greek language newspapers in Sydney, becoming the editor of To Ethniko Vema in 1945. His published articles appeared also in Phos and Krikos. He travelled extensively around Australia and New Zealand, and returned to Greece several times, spending the last year of his life at Mount Athos.
