BiographyHistory

The son of devout Wesleyan Methodists, William Osborne Lilley entered the ministry of the United Methodist Free Church in 1862. For health reasons he sought a warmer climate and emigrated to Brisbane where he continued his ministry at the Ann Street Methodist Church. In Brisbane, Lilley also joined the editorial staff of the Evangelical Standard, a Protestant weekly paper with a very definite religious and political bias.

According to a list of other works in his autobiographical account, Reminiscences of Life in Brisbane and Reflections and Sayings, Lilley also wrote temperance tales and published two other works, The Turville Brothers and Sheen From My Thought-Waves in London.
