Andreas Triandafyllopoulos was born in Pelekanada, Messinia, Greece. He completed high school in Athens and studied for two years at the Piraeus Industrial College. Before emigrating he lived for one year in Germany as a guest worker. In Australia he worked as a fitter and turner and as a teacher at Greek Community afternoon schools. In 1971 he won first prize in a short story competition run by the periodical Domino (Athens) and in 1978 he won second prize for poetry in the competition of the Greek-Australian Cultural League of Melbourne. His song lyrics won the first and second prizes at the 1983 Seventh Festival of Greek Song in Melbourne.
