Norm Newlin is an Aboriginal Worimi Elder and storyteller. He grew up during the Depression and World War II. At the age of 14 years, Norm left school and moved to Brisbane, Queensland where he worked in a tin factory. Later, he joined the Army in the first intake of National Service and served in many regions of Australia and in Korea. Through the experience of war, Norm suffered depression and trauma.

In 1996, Norm graduated with honours in communications from the University of Technology, Sydney, New South Wales, subsequently, he performed his poetry on SBS Television and ABC Radio.

For nearly fifty years Norm has been involved in Aboriginal affairs, and had sat on numerous boards including membership of the NSW/ACT Aboriginal Legal Service and the Campbelltown City Councul Aboriginal Advisory Committee. In 2006 he was recognised and received the Campbelltown City Council Heritage Award. Norm had also been committed to regularly visiting and working with inmates at Long Bay Jail.
