BiographyHistory

Beginning his education at Cowandilla Primary and Plympton High Schools in Adelaide, Walker went on to gain an Advanced Diploma of Teaching in Social Science at the Western Teachers' College (later University of South Australia) and is a teacher of music and drama at a SA state school.

It was not until the mid 1990s that he began publishing his poetry. Since then he has has a large number of his poems published in poetry ezines in Australia, New Zealand, the United Kingdom, Canada, the United States and Ireland, and more recently has had work published in print journals and anthologies in Australia, New Zealand, the USA and the UK.

He has travelled through Asia and Europe, and his experiences are reflected in his poetry. He often involves children, close observation of his own environment or the use of humour to reflect on more weighty social and political subjects.

Walker has also dabbled in the composition of music and lyrics, and has produced two CDs with positivespin (a group which assists teachers, parents and mental health professionals to promote emotional well-being in children and youth). He has worked in community and improvised theatre.
