BiographyHistory

The banker Edward Stephens is the brother of newspaper proprietor John Stephens (q.v.).

Paul Depasquale, in A Critical History of South Australian Literature, 1836-1930 (1978): 22, asserts that Stephens was the anonymous sponsor of, and 'perhaps edited', the Adelaide Miscellany of Useful and Entertaining Knowledge.
