Agent's name first appears in The Home (June 1926) as 'Maire MacKinnon'; the variant spelling may possibly be an alternative writing name, or, the result of a typographical error. The journal lists this writer as Marie Mackinnon in a later issue (October 1926).

The November 1933 issue of The Home includes a brief reference to the announcement of Marie Mackinnon's engagement to Tristan Buesst. The piece notes, 'Both young people have already made a name for themselves in the literary and artistic world. Miss Mackinnon has published some clever articles, and Mr Buesst is interested in economics, music and literature.' (appears in the Melbourne 'Personal and Social' column)
