BiographyHistory

Ormond Burton was a school teacher, author and Methodist. During World War I he served at Gallipoli with the New Zealand Army Medical Corps. Whilst at Gallipoli he contributed to The Anzac Book (1916). He subsequently served in France where he was awarded the Military Medal and the French Medaille d'Honneur. Later in life Burton became a pacifist and during World War II he was imprisoned for subversion and was also expelled from the Methodist Church.
