BiographyHistory

Methold has worked as a teacher, writer, publisher's agent, bookseller, and film producer.

He became a full-time writer in 1974. From 1984 to 1987, he was the Chairman of the Australian Society of Authors; he was also on the Committee of Management for six years. He assisted new authors by writing several guides on writing methods and legal implications for authors, which were published by the Society. Methold is also the author of over 200 textbooks on communication and readers for students of English as a foreign language.

Novels published prior to his arrival in Australia include All Suspect (1960), The Man on His Shoulder (1962), and Turn up a Stone (1969, written as Alexander Cade).

In 1986, he started his own film and TV company. Methold has written and produced two feature films: Jackson's Crew (1986) and Contagion (1987). He also devised, produced, and scripted a children's miniseries, Animal Park (1991), and an animated children's feature, Ketchup (1997). He has written many plays and documentary scripts for the ABC and the BBC.
