BiographyHistory

Alan Kickett was born at Badjaling Mission. He was removed from his family by the police at the age of seven years along with four sisters and sent to Roelands Mission where he lived until he was sixteen. Kickett was told that his parents were dead, but he was later reunited with them.

Kickett's story was recorded by the National Library of Australia for the Bringing Them Home oral history project and appeared in the associated publication Many Voices: Reflections on experiences of Indigenous child separation edited by Doreen Mellor and Anna Haebich (2002).
