BiographyHistory

Barbara Weir was a member of the Stolen Generations. Weir was born at Bundy River Station. She was removed from her family at nine years old and sent to various institutions in Northern Territory and Queensland. Weir was reunited with her mother in 1968 and became a professional artist. She has been involved in the land rights movement.

Weir's story was recorded by the National Library of Australia for the Bringing Them Home oral history project and appeared in the associated publication Many Voices: Reflections on experiences of Indigenous child separation, edited by Doreen Mellor and Anna Haebich (2002).
