'Bulloo' was the author of a number of adventure stories for boys ('Australian westerns') which appeared in the Queenslander and several other Australian newspapers during the period 1898-1915. 'Bulloo's' stories were particularly notable in that they reflected the broader cultural obsession with notions of Anglo-Saxon superiority which was perhaps at its zenith during this period. Not surprisingly, the stories abound with negative depictions of both Indigenous people (who were invariably cast as 'Indians'), and other non-Anglo characters, such as Chinese settlers.

'Bulloo's' identity remains to be established.
