Betty Meehan an anthropologist who had lived at intervals with the Anbarra community in Arnhem Land. Her book Shell Bed to Shell Midden and several articles describe some of her experiences with the women of that community. For five years she was a research fellow in Prehistory in the Research School of Pacife Studies, at the Australian National University. She continues as a consultant working on Aboriginal land claims in the Northern Territory. Meehan was married to Australian archaeologist Rhys Jones. (Source: Fighters and Singers, 1985)
