BiographyHistory

Marta Forneiro was born in the small village of Santa Lucia in the Eastern Republic of Uruguay. After she married in 1941, she settled in Montevideo where she worked as a housemaid and labourer in factories. In 1977, following the death of her husband and the migration of the eldest of her two sons to Australia, Marta Forneiro migrated as well. (From The Flying Carnation, p. 30-31.)
