'The Nile Mission Press (NMP) was founded in February 1905 as 'an independent Mission, whose sole object should be the production of tracts and books and magazines, containing the Gospel message.' A. T. Upson was the first Publishing Superintendent, and the Rev. Andrew Watson of the American United Presbyterian Mission was Chairman of the Literature Committee - the NMP was known in Arabic as the Anglo-American Press...A Ladies' Committee was mooted in 1915, a Children's Department started in 1916; a colporteurs' Rest and Training Home was established in 1919, and a Book Depot opened in Jerusalem the same year. The Press printed material for other missions. Its main lines were pamphlets for Muslims, stories, material for native Christians, translations of Scripture. Work was commissioned from India and China. 'Blessed be Egypt' became the official magazine of the NMP in 1905.'
