UQ Drama, in the School of Communication and Arts, in the year of their 50th anniversary celebrates this milestone by presenting to the public the student production of 'The First Joanna'. Exceeding more than 50 years since it was last seen on stage, AustLit's digitisation program has revived the 1950's stage drama from theatre archives located at UQ's Fryer Library.
The student production has been working alongside AustLit with funding support from the Ian Potter Foundation. The production has received guidance from UQ senior lecturer, course convenor and award winning playwright, Dr Stephen Carleton, and directed by Queensland Theatre Practitioner and former artistic director of La Boite Theatre, Sue Rider.
