A Twentieth Century Shepherd : The Letters of E. H. B. Lefroy,
selected work
poetry
correspondence
'The letters from and to Ted Lefroy contain a description of the development of Cranmore Park, a recent acquisition of virgin land for farming at the beginning of the twentieth century, and the associated problems encountered. The development of a large Merino stud was a particular feature.
'Although not a scientist Lefroy was elected to the CSIR Council and to the Senate of the University of Western Australia. His interests and thirst for knowledge led to his involvement in many situations other than farming e.g. the Secession Movement, "Native Affairs", the Moora Roads Board and the extermination of rabbits. He was dedicated to promoting the inclusion of scientific practice in farming and particularly progeny testing in breeding sheep and published articles to achieve these aims. The letters reflect these many interests.' (Publication summary)
